Let’s talk about how God delivers, maybe not in your time or my time, maybe not in your way or my way, but He always without fail, delivers. So now we are at the part of the journey where God delivers the land. Here’s what happened…
Lee, Bryan, and I began the venture of visiting potential homes while dedicating time to prayer and seeking out discernment and God’s timing. There were many visits to which we all three (and sometimes the kids if they went) said, “not it” and then some that flew off the market before we could schedule a visit, but always God spoke to all three of us to bring consensus. Several times I called Bryan to say I don’t think this is it and before I could he would say, not sure on this one, or vice versa. And I need to pause here to add what a blessing that was, to have a realtor who was not just our realtor but our partner and brother on the journey. We did not for one second ever feel anything other than exactly that and that is without doubt an OG (only God) thing.
Then, in December, we visited a property and decided to put in an offer. It appeared this could potentially be suited for God’s purposes and so we gave it a whirl. God said nope and closed the door, but He opened the door for another ministry. This property had been on the market for almost a year with nothing. We went in with a bid and bam they had three others. One of those bids was coming from individuals seeking to start a ministry for veterans. This was God’s deliverance for them. I like to think that He chose to use us in the lives of those other folks, sort of like a gate opener in the spiritual realm. Like maybe we put in that bid and the enemy said, “lets discourage them” (throws in hurtle), but God in typical God manner said, “nope – that which you intend to harm, I will use for good” and He flipped that script, not by opening a door for us but by opening a door for another and allowing us to watch Him do so. And maybe all of that is just the narrative of my mind and not at all how any of this works, but I like to think maybe so. Thing is, as backwards as it may sound, that no also built faith for us. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t sting a little, it did. I’d be over Christianizing if I said it didn’t cause some “maybe this is just my crazy idea and not God at all” moments; it did, but they were fleeting and largely because at this phase of the life game God had taught us (and not the easy way) that He is faithful and can be trusted.
So, we scheduled to see another property that Bryan had gotten a heads up on and prepared an offer to submit upon walk through. The night before we were scheduled to go see the property, I had a dream (yep, again) and in this dream we drove up a driveway that was on the left and to the right was a large front yard with the house sitting ahead of us but which I did not see. The property that we were scheduled to look at was laid out completely different. I called Bryan the next morning (the day we were scheduled to see it) and said, “Holy Spirit said pull the plug” he said, “Ok”. Just like that without question we said door closed and decided to keep looking. Within the hour I saw a new post that had way less land than we thought we would need, but also had a tag that said inquire about additional tract. I texted Bryan to check, texted Lee to get input and let him know Bryan was checking, and then waited. We drove to the property that Friday afternoon to meet around 4:00 pm. We drove up a driveway to the left, the front yard was to our right, and there sitting back was the house.
It is important for me to interject here that in a journal entry from the first year of this prayer season I had jotted down three homes, two potential smaller (caretaker/cottage type) living spaces, barn/s, and workshop – as this was what God had impressed upon me would be the long-term goal for the work He would require. We toured the property – the main house was two full living spaces/homes (one up, one down), there was a cabin (third living space), an unfinished apartment, a slab for another apartment or tiny home, three barns, and a yert! We stood at the top of the hill after walking through the house and seeing the other structures and almost in unison said, “This is it.” I drove down that driveway and said aloud, “Thank you Father for delivering your Holy and Anointed Land!” Then I called my aunt and cousin and said, “I believe God just delivered.”
He wasn’t done yet…
